Last year we sponsored our local cricket club in Wallasey, this year we are pleased to be in a position to continue the sponsorship and in addition have agreed to also support the Wallasey rugby club, we are providing a £2500.00 donation to each of these clubs for a two year period.

Both clubs are delighted that we have agreed to support them. Club Captain David Miles from Wallasey cricket club and Dave Maddock from Wallasey rugby club provided the following statements below:

The cash injection and support from Brooktherm in March 2010 was quite simply a lifeline for Wallasey CC. In November 2009 the club faced closure and the committee held a number of urgent meetings to discuss how to keep it alive over the next few months. The club has always relied on the support of its local community and it was somewhat fitting that Brooktherm came to the rescue as two of the directors and brothers, Jamie and Danny Keating, are resident to the club itself. A number of smaller sponsors came in which helped with the day to day running of things but the support from Brooktherm allowed the club to plan properly for the future. The club is always in need of cricketing related equipment but there were more urgent matters such as an asbestos roof and dangerous fencing about to collapse around the ground. The money was put to work on these projects meaning that usual cashflow was not affected and the club could continue to survive the winter months. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength and has secured a number of grants to fund other projects both cricket and non-cricket related. A new junior practice net facility is due to be built in 2011 and this is thanks in no small part to the initial support from Brooktherm. Without their help it is safe to say that the club may not have survived to see such developments take place. It is hoped that with the continued support of Brooktherm the club can continue to thrive and make its facilities not just safe but an attractive place to play and watch cricket.

Brooktherm’s sponsorship has certainly come at a pivotal time for Wallasey rugby club. We are currently fighting in a relegation battle to remain in South Lancashire and Cheshire 2 after a tough and hard season so Brooktherms decision to sponsor the club for the next two years has given everyone a big lift and come what may at the end of this season, a great outlook for the new season. The Sponsorship money will be used predominately to purchase two new kits for the club and training and travelling apparel for the 1ST XV, which will give us a professional look and positive mentality to help us climb the table again. We have a young squad at Wallasey with bags of potential and with a company such as Brooktherm behind us the future is certainly looking exciting.
